My Anzac Writing

Introduction:

Anzac Day is to celebrate the soldiers who fought in the war and made the sacrifices for our country. Anzac Day is on the 25th of April every year. people remember Anzac Day by wearing poppies and sometimes medals. When the soldiers went to war were at risk and most of the soldiers died or got wounded. Some of the soldiers survived but came back sick.

Why is Anzac Day remembered:

Anzac Day is remembered by lots of people including Australians and New Zealanders, this is because the people who went to war represented our country. 50% of the men in New Zealand went to war. The war started in 1914 and ended in 1918 in trenches for four years and some soldiers died of diease. We also remember the soldiers by wearing poppies because there were poppies at war and the red represents blood.

How is Anzac Day  remembered:

People visit memorials in their local towns, they have the names of the people that died in their town. Some people lay wreaths and place poppies. They remember by minutes of silence and to wear poppies.

Conclusion:

Over all,Anzac Day is special but the most interesting fact that I found out was that the Anzacs first went to Egypt train and then Samoa to get more Soldiers.

Next step: Ro put more detail into my work.
