Home learning challenge C3

I have taught my mum how to use google docs as she uses word docs. I showed her how to change the color and the texts and how to change the format, it is all different to word docs. I showed her how to use google drawing and how you insert images into the doc. Now she thinks that google docs is much easier to work so she will switch. At first she thought it was a bit tricky but then she got the hang of it.

Today we attended Christmas in the park. I have wanted to go to it for ages, I love Christmas in the park. Firstly we had to leave erly so we could get a good park and a good spot to sit so we could see whats going on the stage. When we got there we got such a good park and a good spot in the VIP area! We then sat down and waited until it was 7:00pm when it started. The first half was all about classical Christmas songs but then the second half was about pop songs. I love Christmas in the park.

Home learning challenge E6

My chosen career is a clothing designer. Before you want to go into this job just know clothing designing involves creating ideas for clothing and other fashion items such as bags, belts and hats. Clothing designers usually specialise in one area [of the fashion company]. There are no specific secondary educational requirements to become a clothing designer, but NCEA Level 2 in: technology, maths, English and art is preferred and there is about 1-3 years of training required. To become a clothing designer, a certificate, diploma or degree in fashion or textile design is recommended. To be a clothing designer you also need some personal requirements.

Some personal requirements you need are... to be creative and imaginative, motivated and dedicated, organised, confident, adaptable, able to work well under pressure, accurate, with an eye for detail; some of these are because if you were boring and you didn't know what the latest fashion was then you would make your client or the person you are designing for embarrassed to wear this, and they would be not happy. If you would like this job there are also some useful experiences so that you would have more of a chance to get into the job.

Lots of the useful experiences include having up-to-date knowledge of clothing styles (knowing what the trends are), knowledge of the history of fashion, design and drawing skills, knowledge of fabric types, colours and fabric care. These are important because if you don't have these personal requirements you might not have a good chance of getting into a job that involves this stuff, but if you do you will have a good chance of getting in.

I feel this would be a good job for me since I enjoy things like sewing and textiles and I feel I am very creative and have some drawing skills and have most of the personal requirements along with those two.

Distinction kapa haka 10

Today at kapa haka we, firstly went to the hall and respectfully walked past the office quietly. Then we took our shoes off and sat in out lines. We then sang a warm up song then we got straight into it. We went through all our performance songs and tweaked some things we couldn't get right. We then chose the people that were doing the karakia and Sophie did it on behalf of both of us because she put her hand up first. I showed respect by being quiet while walking to and from kapa haka. I showed leadership by joining kapa haka and staying there and having a good time, looking on the bright sides of things even when Sophie gets to do the karakia not me. I was a role model because I volunteered to be someone to do the karakia in the first place.

Distinction kapa haka 9

Today at kapa haka we firstly went to the hall and got our shoes off and then went into the hall and sat in our lines that we got assigned for performances. We then started off with our school song then went through our performance songs that we are practicing for the gala. Me and Sophie have to do out own karakia by ourselfs and that is quite scary at times but now im used to it. I showed excellence by putting my hand up to do the extra karakia. I showed leadership by singing proudly and joining kapa haka in the first place. I was a role model because I was in my line and ready to go and not talking at the start.

Distinction kapa haka 8

Today was kapa Haka and we started off by singing our main waiata which is Ka waiata. We sing this song with pride because all our school sings it and it is kind of like our school song because all our school knows it and sings it lots of the time. We then sang a new song that the teachers learnt when they went to the marae on the teacher only day. We then practiced out actions to all the songs and wrapped up. I showed community by singing with pride and listening to Matua. I showed leadership by  getting involved and committing to a group like kapa Haka. I was a role model by doing the actions and letting other copy me.

Distinction leadership role 10

On Monday the student leaders had a meeting just before morning tea with Mr Ladbrook. We firstly talked about the chorus box and Mr Ladbrook said that we won't beable to do it because we didn't have any parent help. Then Sophie said that Linda (Sophies mum) could help supervise us on Wednesday. Then he asked the people who had gotten the excellence bagde to stand which was me and we could leave to go out for morning tea. But the others who didn't have there badge had to say in and blog. I showed respect by contributing to the group discussion positively. I was also being trustworthy by showing up on time and not being late.

Distinction leadership 9

Today we talked about not having any parent helpers and how we can not go to do the paining on the chorus box so Sophie quickly said my mum can do it! so thankfully we can now go and do some painting with Linda (Sophies mum) I showed community by offering some old clothes to people who don't have them. I showed leadership by listening to Mr Ladbrook and being at the meeting on time. I was a role model by giving dome ideas of how we can paint the box.

Distinction leadership 8

Today we talked about the house captains STILL not doing their jobs of putting up the flags and taking them down and the same with the bins. We also talked about how we have to get our excellence, but since we were going to have to get it at the end of the term we asked if we could just at least finish it at the end of the year and Mr L said okay. I showed leadership by backing the leaders who didn't want to get their badges up. I showed respect by listening to Mr L. I was a role model by telling the leaders to get their excellence because its not that hard.

Distinction leadership 7

Today we had a leadership meeting at eating morning tea time. We talked about getting the chorus box done and talked about how we need parent help and no one has volunteered so we are not in a very good position because we cannot go out unless we have a parent helper with us. I showed respect by volunteering my mum if we need her. I showed leadership by going to the meeting on time. I was a role model by finishing my excellence so I didn't have to stay in.

distinction kapa haka 7

Today was kapa haka and we were getting recorded and maybe being put on T.V later. Firstly we went to the hall foyer and took off our shoes because we have to. We next got into our lines and then made adjustments to them. Then we went through a practice song and before we knew it...the photographer was there! Then we took a few takes and when we got it perfect, we stopped and thanked the photographer. I showed respect by being quiet in between takes. I showed leadership by sorting out the lines to make them better. I was a role model by showing the actions to everyone.

Election Writing

WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party.

Have you voted yet? And if you have, who have you voted for?
Personally for me I have a favourite party, New Zealand first. Their policies are great and they deserve lots of chairs even if they aren't the ‘main’ party in parliament at the moment. “Stand with us”In this argument I am going to tell you some of the great policies New Zealand First has. For instance, Keep the retirement age at 65, Remove GST from all food, and Abolish secondary tax.One of these amazing policies are keeping the retirement age at 65, and that is what I will be talking about in the next paragraph.

Keep the retirement age at 65.
New Zealand First believes that seniors must be treated with respect and not as a burden on society. Because lots of people will retire at ages from 60 - 65 and if they retire earlier like at 60  they aren't getting lots of money for 5 years and if the retirement age is any higher it will be hard for lots of people. Would you like your grandparents or elderly family members to still be working at 75? Furthermore, its a good age to stop work and a good marker for where to keep working till.  Which brings me to my next point. Another reason you should vote for New Zealand first because they have a good policy which is to remove all GST from food and thats what im going to talk about in the next paragraph.

Remove GST from all food.
New Zealand First believes that necessities like food shouldn’t be taxed. For instance food prices are rising, and the National Government’s GST increase has made it even more expensive. This is a very good policy because the food in the stores are very expensive and people can't afford any of the food they need. Would you like to be broke and not be able to buy healthy snacks? Another reason this is a great thing is because people are getting very unhealthy because the sugary products are the only things that are cheap and then they might have to go to the dentist and that will cost way too much for them to afford. Another good policy to focus on is to abolish secondary tax.

Abolish secondary tax.
New Zealand First believes that secondary tax is an unfair burden on people who have more than one job. Abolishing secondary tax should make the tax system more fair and help people working multiple jobs make ends meet. This is a great policy because some people who cannot get enough money to feed their families. as shown lots of people have two jobs to get enough money but then you will get twice as much tax which would make it harder to get the money you need, and this causes people to quit their jobs and lose money. What if YOU had two jobs and had to pay tax more. This is also a good policy because people who LIKE having two jobs would hate getting secondary tax. Like people who have one job for money and another like art or something that doesn't pay very well but people enjoy. This is another reason you need to vote New Zealand First. These are the policies I like/agree with but next paragraph are the ones I don't like and don't agree with.

This is one of the terrible policies I disagree with...Set a minimum price for alcohol.
The Green Party believes that alcohol is a health and social problem and should be treated as such. This is a bad idea because if the price was lower, more people would buy it and they would buy more. Not the other way around. Would you like christchurch to be a bunch of addicts? Also this would make more people have health problems because they could buy more bottles of alcohol for less money and die early because they could get addicted. I think this is a very good reason not to vote for green/labour, now I will be wrapping up my main points.

In this argument I have stated my favourite policies from New Zealand first and told you why they ARE great and you should vote for them. I think New Zealand first is a great party to vote for because they are very strong in Incomes, Migration, Housing and lots more but this is great because these are very important policies. The points I have talked about include, abolishing secondary tax for low income earners, Remove GST from all food, for people who can't afford things like this and lastly, Keep the retirement age at 65, for grandparents who need the extra money. So have I changed your mind on who to vote for?

My next steps are: To understand the policies even more than I do already and make it so the reader KNOWS that I know a lot about them.
